139. Ministry Partnership Available

This special issue offers a unique ministry opportunity.

This special edition is to let my readers know about an exciting opportunity to partner with me in an upcoming ministry in Africa. This spring, from April 26 to May 17, five of us from Community Bible Church will team up with several representatives from Africa to train pastors and minister to their wives in Zambia (south of the Congo and Tanzania). As with my previous trips, we will be ministering as representatives of Ambassadors for Christ, Int. We will be holding 5-day seminars in Lusaka, Livingstone, and Kabwe with some great sightseeing in between.

According to its constitution, Zambia is a Christian nation, but there is a huge disconnect between beliefs and lifestyle. In recent years, HIV/AIDS has decreased the nation”s population by 2 million! The problem is exacerbated by the fact that talking to their children about sexual activity and promiscuity is considered taboo in their culture. Consequently, the life expectancy of a Zambian is 37 years. Meanwhile, the orphan population is growing. In Ndola City (population: 500,000), where a previous team ministered, the orphan population is 100,000. Young girls are forced to sell themselves to survive. One pastor reports that half of his congregation of 150 is infected. Children play with infected children. Clearly, there”s a lot of work to be done.

Other challenges will add to the “adventure.” The power routinely goes out, sometimes for 8 hours. Gas on a previous trip was $10 per gallon. Who knows what it will be this spring? The roads are deteriorating and supplies we take for granted are simply not available. The good news is that there are signs of spiritual revival. Hopefully, we will be riding a wave of God”s activity, empowered by His spirit as we do His work. It”s amazing what God does when you make yourself available to Him as you step our of your comfort zone into situation where must constantly pray for His help and guidance. If it”s anything like my previous trips, I will have many positive things to report.

Since my teaching messages will likely need to be translated into the local dialects (very time consuming), I am consolidating the lessons to make the best use our time. In addition to training pastors, I will likely be called on to preach at several

local churches. Talk about being in desperate need of the Holy Spirit”s filling! Unlike my trip to the Philippines last year, the weather will likely be fantastic, and as long as I like chicken (mostly distance runners), the food won”t be too much of an adventure.

I need a team that can support me financially and prayerfully. I need to raise $3500 by March 15.  If you would like to be a part of this ministry by helping financially and/or praying regularly for our

work there, I would very much appreciate it. Please

email me at
and I will give you all the information you need. If you have benefited from my articles last year, I hope you will consider participating with me. You will be blessed as I report back on the results of your prayers and contributions.
