This issue looks at Islam in the Book of Proverbs. SINCE YOU ASKEDKoran PD
When Christians contemplate the very real threat posed by Islam, the first place we should go for wisdom is to the Word of God. Once we’re there, what better source for wisdom could we find than the book of Proverbs? Below is a compilation of seven facts regarding the Islamic threat. With each fact is an appropriate verse from Proverbs.

Fact 1:          A jihad has been declared against Jews and Christians. We are considered infidels and the enemy. Muslims have stated their goal- world domination. Historically, they have spread Islam by the sword.

Proverb:     Do not be afraid of sudden fear, not of the onslaught of the wicked when it comes; for the Lord will be your confidence, and will keep your foot from being caught (3:25-26).

Fact 2:          Muslims declare that Muslim flag will fly over the White House within 20 years. They have claimed that Sharia will be the law of the land.

Proverb:     The righteous will never be shaken, but the wicked will not dwell in the land (10:30).

Fact 3:          Muslims boast of what they will do to us and complain vehemently when they feel their religion has been maligned or their prophet insulted.

Proverb:     With his mouth the godless man destroys his neighbor, but through knowledge the righteous will be delivered (11:9). He who despises his neighbor lacks sense, but a man of understanding keeps silent (11:12).

Fact 4:          Those at the top of the Muslim “chain of command” call for the death of all infidels as well as Muslims who embrace the God of Israel.

Proverb:     He who is steadfast in righteousness will attain to life, and he who pursues evil will bring about his own death (11:19). Assuredly, the evil man will not go unpunished, but the descendents of the righteous will be delivered (11:21).

Fact 5:          Muslims boast that their enemies will submit to Islam and shariah law or will face annihilation.

Proverb:     The wicked are overthrown and are no more, but the house of the righteous will stand (12:7).

Fact 6:          Muslims are encouraged to lie to conceal their true intentions. They daily slander the name of Jehovah God and Jesus Christ as they chant “There is no god but Allah and Muhammad is his messenger.”

Proverb:     He who conceals hatred has lying lips, and he who slanders is a fool (10:18). A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who tells lies will not escape (19:5).

Fact 7:          The Qur’an boasts that Allah is the greatest of all deceivers (schemers) (Sura 3:56). When entering into a truce, Muslims deceptively follow the hudna, a truce meant to produce a period of calm with an enemy in order to gain concessions, regroup, rearm, and attack at an appropriate time.

Proverb:       He who hates disguises it with his lips, but he lays up deceit in his heart. When he speaks graciously, do not believe him, for there are seven abominations in his heart (26:24).

AS I SEE IT
We all could use some good news, and what better source than the wisdom of God found in the Word of God. While the book of Proverbs represents wise sayings and not promises per se, wisdom and truth are intertwined and God’s truth can be prayed back to Him with expectations that He will honor it. Did you notice how often “righteous” was mentioned? It seems to be the key to turning wisdom into truth. Let me show you what I mean. Righteousness is set up in opposition to the evil of the wicked. Righteousness brings deliverance, both positionally and as used here, experientially. Positionally, we are declared righteous when we place our faith in Jesus Christ. This is our justification-God declares us innocent when, in fact, we are quite guilty. In this case, Christ’s righteousness has been imputed to us. Experientially, that is, in our everyday experiences, it’s our own righteousness that’s important. This is the righteousness that comes from obedience. Since most of the verses here contrast righteousness with wickedness, the issue is our conduct and behavior.

Here’s my point. In order to claim these as promises, our lives must display righteousness. We must be obedient to our calling. As I’ve said often, the Church must finally start acting like the Church. When it does, we can claim the victory expressed in these verses.
