Kingdom Living

This week’s news proved that the liberal left’s lunacy has reached a new level. Wood paneling is now sexist? Men menstruate? While we shake our heads, we must somehow come to grips with the fact that a large segment of our population has lost the ability to think rationally. Even more scary is the fact that snowflakes on our college campuses represent only the tip of the snow-covered iceberg.

Snowflakes grow up to believe things like the sentiments of the articles above. To them, Islamophobia is more of a threat than the barbaric violence caused by Muslims. Think about it. How does a person come to the conclusion that protecting the people who follow a religion that teaches violence is more important than protecting the victims of that violence?

How does a person come to believe that people whose religion demands your subjugation must be given the benefit of the doubt when push comes to shove? In a recent article, I tried to show the extent of the lunacy America has to endure.

Once a person has sunk to this level, there’s only one thing to do with him – elect him to a high political office so he (or she) can codify the psychosis into public policy. But enough about the Democratic party. Let’s get into the spiritual application. Liberals aren’t the only group needing a brain transplant. Followers of Jesus are also called to a new way of thinking by having our minds renewed (Rom. 12:1-2).

We are to make sure that we don’t get drawn into worldly ways of thinking while we are critical of the insanity around us. We are to be transformed from everything worldly in our thinking so that we are tuned in to God’s thought. It’s not good enough to think differently from the looneys. We are to be so transformed that we start living and thinking on a much higher level-the level representing the absolute will of God. This is what the Bible calls kingdom living.

The success of our journey into kingdom living depends on our willingness to submit every part of our lives to God and the willingness to endure the painful process of change. The more we submit to God and the pain when it comes, the more God will transform us. I elaborated on this in a previous article. The principles presented in that article have come from personally experiencing the painful but rewarding process.

In conclusion, every time we find ourselves in disbelief over the next news story about yet another wacko claim or pronouncement, how about using the moment as a trigger to purge our own minds of whatever ungodly or worldly idea that has taken root. I believe God wants us to learn to see everything from His point of view and to respond as He would. My guess is that we’ll find ourselves praying for people a lot more and casting judgment on people a lot less. Prayer brings change. Judging accomplishes nothing.
