This article looks at the impending war against Israel.IT’S WORTH CONSIDERING
We get so used to hearing about the impending war against Israel that we grow numb to the realities of the situation. Here are some reports that show just how real the threat is:

Israeli naval officials were on hand in Germany earlier this week as the INS Tanin, Israel’s fourth Dolphin-class submarine, was lowered into the water for the first time. This submarine fleet, described as having the most advanced diesel-electric submarines in the world, is a key element in Israel’s deterrent strategy against a nuclear attack. The stealthy submarines also would be capable of playing a crucial role in a potential Israeli strike against Iran’s nuclear weapons program. They provide an option to reach distant locations that are beyond the reach of Israel’s air force.

As the murderous Assad regime clings to power in Damascus, many analysts fear Syria could launch an attack on Israel in an attempt to divert the protestors who are threatening to bring down the government. As a result, top Israeli military officials recently conducted surprise drills to test the readiness of the army and air force to respond to a sudden Syrian attack. Though the greatest threat to Israel remains Iran’s nuclear program, there are other, even closer dangers to face as well.

Despite being shunned by the international community and saddled with severe United Nations and international sanctions, Iran’s defense minister says the Islamic Republic is now ready to export Iranian weapons to those who want them. Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi said Iran has spent years developing its own weapons and this has “given it the ability to help other countries,” the FARS news agency reported. The commander of Iran’s top military college admitted that knowledge was gleaned from western textbooks, but that Iranian soldiers had now switched from western textbooks to locally produced Iranian military texts. Read more.

The former head of Israel’s Counter-Terrorism Bureau revealed recently that jihadist groups around the world have joined together to attack Israeli targets and Jewish people wherever and whenever they can. General Nitzan Nuriel said that Iran is pushing these terrorists, many of whom it has funded and trained, to launch these attacks as an attempt to derail a possible military strike against their nuclear program. The brutal murder of three children and a teacher at a Jewish school in France not long ago was the latest and most deadly in a string of recent attacks.

AS I SEE IT
It’s easy to look at the threat to Israel through earthly eyes, comparing militaries, weapons, strategies, and leaders. That’s a mistake. None of Israel’s previous military victories had been because of military might. The accounts of Israel’s victories against overwhelming odds seem more like chapters in an action-adventure-suspense novel than reality. That’s good news for Israel since the number of weapons pointed at her far exceeds her number of defensive weapons. Looking back on her victories reveals on thing above all else-the hand of God-the very thing Israel’s enemies have ignored.

God’s word, name, and reputation are at stake here. He has made promises to Israel and her enemies that He will keep regardless of Israel’s rebellion or her enemies’ hatred of her and her God:

For the Lord will not abandon His people on account of His great name, because the Lord has been pleased to make you a people for Himself (1 Samuel 12:22).

We must never forget that God is sovereign in the affairs of men and that nothing that happens will catch Him by surprise. He will use every event to accomplish His will, and everything that happens will be right on schedule. Despite Ahmadinejad’s rantings, Psalm 2 still lives on:

Why are the nations in an uproar, and the peoples devising a vain thing?
The kings of the earth take their stand, and the rulers take counsel together against the Lord and against His Anointed:
“Let us tear their fetters apart, and cast away their cords from us!”
He who sits in the heavens laughs, The Lord scoffs at them
(Psalm 2: 1-4).
