This issue looks at the impending war in the Middle East, an unlikely Israeli appointment, a new joint Israeli-Napali stamp, America’s lackluster dealings with Iran, another bizarre lawsuit supporting terrorism, the DOJ’s lawsuit against Gallup, and some major changes for my Blog.

OUR ISRAELI CONNECTION

News from the Jerusalem Prayer Team
Though I have not received specific details and of course could not share them publicly if I had, I have been told by more than one very high ranking source here in Israel that they have one more thing to try prior to launching an all-out military assault to stop Iran’s nuclear weapons program. This “secret weapon” could be used in the next few weeks…or even days.

Israel’s security cabinet-the group that will make the final decision regarding a strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities-met for more than ten hours yesterday to receive intelligence updates and assessments. The meeting was top secret. Only the ministers directly involved were part of it. Even their top aides were not allowed into the room. The group in the meeting is believed to have discussed the “zone of immunity,” the point at which Iran will be so advanced that a military strike will no longer be an option, as well as the worsening situations in Syria and Egypt.

I had a breakfast meeting with a very powerful leader in Israel. I cannot say his name, but he and I have been friends for thirty years. He told me, “Iran will cross the red line in a matter of weeks. They now have thousands of centrifuges spinning in a virtually impenetrable facility near Qom. The more time elapses, the more it becomes a zero-sum game. As we prepare for the High Holy Days, we are distributing gas masks to the population and preparing bomb shelters.

News from the Israel Project
The dean of Hebrew University’s law faculty, Professor Yuval Shany, has been chosen to serve on the U.N.’s Human Rights Committee. “The fact that Israel was elected to a body with so many hostile countries and others, who see Israel as a human rights violator is not a trivial matter,” Shany said. Nepal and Israel have released a joint stamp depicting the highest and the lowest places on earth – Mount Everest and the Dead Sea. The stamp bears a picture of Mount Everest, towering at 8,848m (29,028ft), and the mineral-rich Dead Sea, at 422m below sea level. Read the full article in The Jerusalem Post.

The Israeli army this morning launched a pre-emptive strike on Palestinian terrorists as they planted an explosive along Gaza’s border with Israel. The operation killed three of the perpetrators. Earlier, the army killed three other terrorists in Gaza as they were about to launch rockets at Israel.

Where is the flotilla for Syria? That’s the question Israel’s ambassador to the U.N., Ron Prosor, posed in a commentary in The Wall Street Journal. “The fleets of flotillas, ferries, yachts, sailboats, canoes and catamarans that have set sail for Gaza in recent years rival the size of the Spanish Armada,” Prosor wrote. “Yet one might argue that humanitarian flotillas are needed just a bit more urgently in Syria…” Read the full article.

Congressman Confirms High-level U.S.-Israel Spat over Iran
Newsmax reports: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu blew up at the U.S. ambassador last month because he was “at wit’s end” over what he sees as the Obama administration’s lack of clarity on Iran’s nuclear program, a U.S. congressman who was at the meeting said. House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Rogers, a Republican, made his first public comments about the late August meeting in Israel in an interview with Michigan’s WJR radio on Tuesday. His disclosure comes only hours before President Barack Obama will at the Democratic National Convention to accept the party’s nomination as its candidate in the November election, in which the level of the Obama administration’s support for Israel has become a contentious topic. Major Change for my Blog
Starting next week, I will go from three to just one post per week. It may be an original article, or a news story with my comments. I have had to make the change because I have accepted an offer as a regular blogger for Covenant Keepers of America. Check it out. It was formed as a resource for ministries seeking information relating to Israel, Islam and America (the focus of my ministry, too). We are happy to have found each other. I will be posting two articles per week, all focused on Israel. Islam is being covered by others. Check out our new website. It’s still under construction, but already has some great information and some “heavy hitters” as contributors. My blog will continue (1/week) covering similar topics as before, but much less regarding Israel so as not to duplicate material. I will be including a link in each blog to the new site. If you have any comments or suggestions, I’d love to hear from you.
