God’s agenda is always greater than anything we can dream up.
IT’S WORTH CONSIDERING
This leaves us with one large leaning pine tree that is hung up in another tree. It will require a crane or other heavy equipment along with some very skilled arborists. As of this moment, we have three groups who may be able to provide what we need if we are willing to wait until the equipment becomes available.
We have also received a case and a half of MREs (meals ready to eat) which we will save for a future need, and my wife also learned that she will be paid for the time we were away during the evacuation.
As I compare all the blessings we have received with the plight of several of our neighbors, I am humbled. I am also reminded that we are blessed so that we can bless others. It’s what I call spiritual recycling. God’s blessings aren’t supposed to stop with us. They are to be passed along so God can use them for His greater purposes.
AS I SEE IT
At first, we were upset that none of our insurance policies covered the cost of dealing with all the downed and leaning trees, but once again, God’s ways are not our ways. He would receive much greater glory by providing through His people (volunteers) and even those who weren’t His. It’s like the account in John 11 where 
Jesus delayed when He learned that His friend Lazarus was very sick. He would receive much greater glory from raising Lazarus from the dead than from simply healing him. Jesus’ agenda was greater than what His friends could imagine.
My current mission is to effectively pass on the blessings I have received. It’s a shame that this doesn’t come naturally to some of us. We have to think about it. Having done so, I can share my newly acquired supply of firewood (great burning oak) with the neighbors. I can continue to help those whose homes are no longer habitable. I’m sure the Lord will reveal others ways and with them I expect to find great joy, which has been the case so far.
For whatever reason, I have already received more joy from helping my neighbors than I have experienced in a long time. It is clear the God is up to something big. This shouldn’t surprise us once we understand that God’s agenda is always greater than anything we can dream up.
