SETTING OUR MINDS ON THINGS ABOVE

A Bold & Courageous Move

President Trump has officially started the process of moving our Israeli embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. He also officially recognized the Holy City as Israel’s capital. The violent reaction from Israel’s enemies shows why the “peace process” isn’t going anywhere.  The Palestinians have made it clear that they have only one goal-the elimination of all Jews from the land they erroneously claim as their own. They have no desire to live side by side with the Israelis, and Trump’s announcement afforded another opportunity to put their hatred of all things Israeli on display. Even the Pope jumped on the bandwagon in criticizing the announcement, which shouldn’t surprise any student of biblical prophecy.

History reveals that Jerusalem has been Israel’s capital since ancient times. No other nation or people has a legitimate claim on any part of the most important city in the world. In the interests of peace, Israel has allowed a Muslim and Christian presence, but Jerusalem and the entire region called “Palestine” was assigned to the Jews by God. The world may not recognize this transaction, but one day they will be forced to do so.

Here at home, the same Democrats who unanimously voted to approve the embassy move a mere six months ago (in accordance with the 1995 Jerusalem Embassy Act) are now singing a far different tune. They will do or say anything to discredit the President, including exposing their own hypocrisy.

The President’s bold and courageous move has exposed the undercurrent of hatred all over the world and the reliance on intimidation when the truth is not on their side. All the claims that the announcement has removed all hope for a peaceful two-state solution fail to recognize that years of cowardly inaction by former presidents who kept our embassy in Tel Aviv has done nothing to promote peace.

I listened to one critic after another pontificate on why the announcement was a bad idea. Even those who supported the President failed to touch on the real reason why this was a good move. That reason is found in Genesis 12:3: And I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse.  God is the one we should seek to please, not the Palestinians, world leaders, or politicians. It is in our best interests to be on God’s side in world affairs, regardless of the inevitable worldly backlash. If God is for us, who can be against us?

I am so proud that we finally have a President who will not be intimidated and is willing to do the right thing in the face of extensive opposition. His announcement is one of the most important things an American president has ever done, because of the importance of Israel to God. The fact that President Trump went against the recommendations of his advisers suggests that God is using this man the way He used President Truman when he went against his advisers in recognizing the newly formed state of Israel in 1948.

Lord Balfour

To me, it says that God is setting the stage for what He said would happen as He shakes the nations in the Last Days. Everything He has planned is about to unfold. The President’s announcement has set a new course for Middle-East events. Some have pointed out that significant events in Israel’s history seem to happen every 50 years.

In 1917, on Israel’s year of Jubilee, the Balfour Declaration was issued. Then, fifty years later in 1967, Jerusalem was reclaimed by Israel. Fifty years later we find ourselves living in 2017 when Trump’s historic embassy-moving announcement.

Regardless of what you want to make of the numbers game, I believe our President’s announcement marks a historic day when the United States of America gained the favor of God. Sadly, few people will see beyond the expected backlash and will continue to condemn President Trump for his “reckless action.” However,

“No weapon that is formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that accuses you in judgment you will condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their vindication is from Me,” declared the Lord (Isaiah54:17).
