This issue looks at Prime Minister Netanyahu’s response to Obama’s pressure regarding a two-state solution, brewing trouble at the Temple Mount, increased anti-Semitism in the West, and more insight into the significance of Jerusalem. It also shows the entrenched hatred within the PA (Palestinian Authority), the deceptive nature of Islam, and explains the proper way to write small numbers.

OUR ISRAELI CONNECTION

JERUSALEM – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu endorsed a Palestinian state beside Israel for the first time on Sunday, reversing himself under U.S. pressure, but saying the Palestinians would have to lay down arms, a condition they swiftly rejected. A week after President Barack Obama’s address to the Muslim world, Netanyahu said the Palestinian state would also have to recognize Israel as the Jewish state – essentially saying Palestinian refugees must give up the goal of returning to Israel. With those conditions, he said, he could accept “a demilitarized Palestinian state alongside the Jewish state.” The West Bank-based Palestinian government dismissed the proposal.

Jay Sekulow reports:

The Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), an anti-Christian, anti-Jewish organization that blatantly refuses to recognize the State of Israel, has begun a push to take control of Jerusalem’s Temple Mount- the holiest site in Jerusalem. Please pray against this.

 The Friends of Israel reports:

Little Israel is always like the canary in a mineshaft. It suffers first, providing a warning to others to take action or endure the same fate. In the United States and Canada, Jewish students, along with Israel, are under the most severe attack ever known on this side of the Atlantic.

The Significance of Jerusalem

Beyond the reasons outlined in previous newsletters, even before Abraham was called to sacrifice Isaac on Mt. Moriah, he had a strange encounter that set Jerusalem apart from all other cities. When he met Melchizedek, king of Salem (Genesis 14:18), Abraham was looking for the city which has foundations whose architect and builder is God (Hebrews 11:10) By faith, Abraham was looking for the heavenly Jerusalem. Where did he find himself? He was in the earthly Jerusalem before it was even built. Jerusalem later grew from the original city of Salem, which means “peace.” I will explain more of her significance in future newsletters. I cover this topic in detail in my book The Israeli Connection. Click the link to my website.

IT’S NEWS TO ME

On May 5, the Palestinian newspaper Al-Ayyam reported that the PA named its new computer center after Dalal Mughrabi, a female terrorist who in 1978 killed 37 civilians-including 12 children-in a bus hijacking in Israel.

Hamas’s own charter calls for killing Jews. It states, “The time will not come until Muslims will fight the Jews (and kill them); until the Jews hide behind rocks and trees, which will cry: O Muslim!  There is a Jew hiding behind me, come on and kill him!”

Just last month, Abbas rejected the idea of a Jewish state and recently met with Palestinian youth leaders where he held up a framed map of Palestine – clearly labeled in English – that covered all of Israel. “I say this clearly: I do not accept the Jewish State, call it what you will,” Abbas said during the meeting in Ramallah. The photo of Abbas holding the map appeared on the front pages of both Palestinian Authority daily newspapers.

Islam allows lying to conceal one’s true intentions

Within Islam are two doctrines that reveal the deceptive nature of this religion. Kitman is a command to deliberately conceal one’s beliefs. It is a particular form of lying practiced primarily by Shi’ites and to a lesser degree by Sunnis. Shi’a Muslims are commanded to purposefully hide what they truly believe in order to mislead outsiders as to the true nature of their religion. Taqiyya is virtually the same. A Shi’ite Encyclopedia describes it as “Concealing or disguising one’s beliefs, convictions, ideas, feelings, opinions, and/or strategies at a time of eminent danger, whether now or later in time, to save oneself from physical and/or mental injury.”

These doctrines show why diplomacy and face to face negotiations with Muslim leaders will never produce peace.

WRITING TIPS

Writing Small Numbers

Numbers under 101 are usually written out in informal, general text; but where there are different numbers, only those under 11 are expressed in words. Small numbers are set in numerals when they occur in a group with larger numerals and refer to similar things.

My favorite booklet contained eighty-five pages.

One booklet contained 36 pages, one 72 pages, and the third 108   pages. The smallest contained only five pages.

Of the total of 358 landholder members there were 4 Irish peers, 98 sons of peers, and 155 near relatives of peers.

A rubber band pistol was confiscated from algebra class because it was a weapon of math disruption.
