This issue examines why Jerusalem must remain under Israeli control, how the U.N. will ensure a Palestinian state, more of our tax dollars supporting terrorists, London’s role as a Muslim training center, and Iran’s new terrorist-friendly missile.

OUR ISRAELI CONNECTION

Three Reasons Why Jerusalem Must Remain Under Israeli Control

1. Jerusalem has been the capital city of the Jewish people (only the Jewish People) for 3,000 years, including both ancient Israel and current Israel.  There were caliphates based in Medina, Damascus, Baghdad, and Cairo–never in Jerusalem.
2. Jews lived in Jerusalem for 1,700 years before the Arab conquests in the Seventh century.
3. Jerusalem is mentioned 641 times in the Bible and not once in the Qur’an.

U.N. Poised to Declare Palestinian Statehood
Jerusalem Prayer Team reports: What the media is telling you is incomplete and often completely misleading. A declaration of Palestinian statehood would not be merely a symbolic act at the UN. Israeli defense minister Ehud Barak warned his compatriots that a pro-Palestinian, diplomatic tsunami was about to crest. Presently the Palestinians have observer status at the UN, as do the Vatican and the EU. The desire to be a sovereign member is not a pipe dream.

Last year President Obama declared that he hoped the Palestinian state could be admitted to the United Nations by the time world leaders gathered in September in New York City for the annual General Assembly session. A request for membership requires a two-thirds majority to be approved. Today that would mean 128 votes from 192 member states. Presently 112 countries have recognized a sovereign Palestinian state with acceptance to come from more in the next few months provoked by Prime Minister Netanyahu’s response to President Obama’s bold declaration.

The president knows that he could push it through the Security Council, or if the U.S. abstained, it would be passed. President Obama was quite clever when he met with Mr. Netanyahu when he said, “Symbolic actions to isolate Israel at the United Nations in September won’t create an independent state.” In terms of UN membership, he is correct. Chapter two, article 4 of the UN Charter says, “The admission of any such state to membership in the United Nations will be affected by a decision of the General Assembly upon the recommendation of the Security Council.” That suggests the U.S., a member of the Security Council, would veto any Palestinian membership if negotiations with Israel do not succeed. But a U.S. veto may not matter. An effort is underway at the UN to garner support for a General Assembly vote in favor of Palestinian membership. The UN General Assembly would simply bypass the Security Council.

U.S. Tax Dollars Once Again Support Terrorists
Canada Free Press reports: Haven’t you always wanted to send your money directly to imprisoned terrorists? Well now you can thanks to cooperation between the Obama Administration and the Palestinian Authority which will now be paying salaries to imprisoned terrorists. The PA doesn’t have much of a tax base, except the Americans, Israelis and Europeans who serve as their tax base. A law published in the official Palestinian Authority Registry last month grants all Palestinians and Israeli Arabs imprisoned in Israel for terror crimes a monthly salary from the PA. The latest US contribution to the PA budget\Adopt a Terrorist is a quarter of a billion.

WikiLeaks Cites London as Muslim Extremist Training Ground
Newsmax reports that London was a center for training Muslim extremists who then went on to fight in Afghanistan, newly leaked papers from Guantanamo Bay show. Four mosques and an Islamic center were highlighted as places where young Muslim men were radicalized and turned into future fighters, the Daily Telegraph reports. The Telegraph has seen the papers, which senior U.S. military commanders at Guantanamo produced, and the WikiLeaks website obtained.

New Iranian Missile Designed for Use by Terrorists
Israeli defense analysts assessed that a new missile test fired by Iran on Sunday is designed to be used by its proxy terrorist militias like Hamas in the Gaza Strip and Hizbullah in Lebanon. The new surface-to-surface missile, called Qiyam 1 (Resurrection), is similar to the Soviet-designed SCUD missile, but is built without stabilizer fins, relying instead on an advanced navigation and guidance system which demonstrate a new level of technical mastery by Iran’s military industry. Footage of the tests were aired in Iran even as US President Barak Obama told the AIPAC policy conference in Washington Sunday that he will “keep up pressure” on the Islamic Republic to prevent it from building nuclear weapons, as well as condemning its support for extremists in the region. He also criticized Iranian “hypocrisy” in “claiming to support the rights of protesters while treating its own people with brutality.”
