30. Diversity trumps American lives

This issue looks at Obama's Jewish American support, his plans for a Palestinian state, analyzes the Fort Hood shooting and the decision to try 9-11 terrorists in Federal Court, and gives a writing tip to tighten up your sentences.

OUR ISRAELI CONNECTION

Mike Evans reports
President Obama has made it clear that he envisions a Palestinian state complete with airspace, and army and one that can make treaties with other Arab, Jew-hating states such as Syria, Iran, and Libya. He also believes the quicker the U.S. distances itself from Israel, the more rapidly bridges can be built in the Islamic world. This is similar to the appeasement policies of the 1930s in Europe. Obama has also indicated that he might be prepared to link Israel's behavior during the peace process with the considerable aid the U.S. gives to Israel.

The thumb screws are about to turn on U.S./Israeli policies that have existed since Harry Truman signed the document recognizing Israel as a state. Obama's chief of staff Rahm Emanuel has clearly articulated the administration's belief that it must link American efforts to stop Iran from developing nuclear weapons to Israeli efforts toward establishing a Palestinian state.

I find it most interesting that 80 percent of Jewish Americans supported Obama and also contributed more than 50% of the Democratic Party funding. I wonder if Obama's anti-Israel policies have influenced the love affair.

IT’S NEWS TO ME

GrassTopsUSA reports
Scattered among the first breaking news reports of the Fort Hood massacre were statements by FBI sources that there was no terrorist connection to Maj. Nidal Hasan's jihadist murder of his fellow soldiers. Why?

Three days after the murders, Army Chief of Staff Gen. George Casey told a CNN interviewer, “Our diversity, not only in our Army, but in our country, is a strength. And as horrific as this tragedy was, if our diversity becomes a casualty, I think that's worse.” So the leader

of our army believes that diversity is more important than protecting the lives of our troops? Why?

As the story of Nidal Hassan unfolds, it becomes painfully clear that the Jihadi Shrink who opened fire on US troops at Fort Hood did everything but spray paint, “I Am Going To Kill You All” on the wall, before he actually carried out his attack. Not only did Hassan put a Jihadist abbreviation on his business cards, he delivered repeated lectures justifying Jihad, accused the soldiers he was supposed to treat of War Crimes and was already being investigated for contacts with Al Qaeda and for defending suicide bombing online.

At a time when snow globes are banned at airports and detectors are positioned in every Federal building, in the heart of the United States Army, a Jihadist like Nidal Hassan could openly and freely express his sympathies and affinity for terrorism. But the thing that Nidal Hassan had going for him, that the snow globes and baby bottles filled with breast milk didn't, is that Hassan was a Muslim, and ever since 9/11, Americans have been repeatedly warned against criticizing Islam. We are told over and over again that Islam is the Religion of Peace, and that just because all our foreign terrorists happen to be Muslims acting in the name of Islam does not actually matter. Just as all those Japanese planes flying toward Pearl Harbor and the German factories producing tanks meant nothing in the 1930's.

9-11 Terrorists to be tried in Civilian Courts
In the string of amazing decisions made during the first year of the Obama administration, nothing seems more like sheer insanity than the decision to try foreign terrorists who have committed acts of war against the United States in federal court, as if they were American citizens accused of crimes.

Terrorists are not even entitled to the protection of the Geneva Conventions, much less the Constitution of the United States. Terrorists have never observed, nor even claimed to have observed, the Geneva Conventions, nor are they among those covered by them. In the words of Senator Jim DeMint (R- SC), “This senseless decision puts more Americans at risk for future terrorist attacks and is completely unnecessary. Americans have already invested hundreds of millions of dollars in Guantanamo Bay where these violent radicals can be detained and safely tried by military commissions away from our communities.”

WRITING TIPS

Watch for the word “there.”
Starting sentences with “there” makes your sentence unnecessarily wordy and weak.

Poor: There are many reasons for taking vitamins.
Better: Taking vitamins offers many benefits.
