This week’s news + our call to walk in victory in the midst of the madness around us
IT’S NEWS TO ME
The Balfour Declaration and Palestinian Denial (MUST READ)
SETTING OUR MINDS ON THINGS ABOVE
If you haven’t read the last article, please do so. It contains a chilling reminder that the far left isn’t giving up and that it will find a way to push its sick ideology. When a solid Republican Conservative with a stellar record loses to a man who thinks he isn’t really a man in a state legislator race, we have a serious problem. This is all the loony left needs to spur its members into action to keep the victories coming. When a morally bankrupt ideology receives the financial backing it needs, it will find ways to win..as long as decent people do nothing to stop it.
Who would have imagined that a transgender man would be elected to the Virginia State Legislature? Who would have imagined that traitor/deserter Bowe Bergdahl would be considered for a medal? These and the other articles I selected for this week’s post are, indeed, head scratchers, but they shouldn’t be. All this fits right into what we are told to expect in the last days:
But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God (2 Tim 3:1-4).
It seems as though Satan is winning, but not if we see through God’s eyes. Christians may be tempted to engage in the battle to defeat Satan before he destroys everything, but God sees the victory as already won by Christ on the cross. It was there that He disarmed the satanic and demonic rulers and authorities and disgraced them publicly, triumphing over them (see Col. 2:15). This means that Jesus has Satan on a leash. He can do only what Jesus allows him to do. We must never forget that.
As His followers, we are to walk in that victory despite what is going on around us. We know exactly how Satan will be destroyed when the appointed day arrives. We must remember that he is a deceiver, and one of his favorite tactics is to deceive us into believing that God didn’t defeat him and that there’s no victory to “walk in.” The truth, however, tells a very different story.
Our responsibility is to completely submit our lives to God, to resist the devil, and he will flee (James 4:7). When we resist, we are acknowledging that Christ did, indeed, defeat Satan on the cross.Since Jesus became sin for us, when he died, sin died, freeing the “captives” from Satan’s power. Consequently, the things happening around us shouldn’t discourage us.
Satan has many people under his control, but his power is limited. Ours is not. The victory has been won, and the one who dwells within us (followers of Christ) has the ultimate authority over everything including politics and military matters. We are called to use the unlimited power available to us to proclaim that victory and to introduce those around us to the One who can deliver them from Satan’s power just as He did for us.
