How Satan Corrupted God’s Word in the Qur’an

IT’S WORTH CONSIDERING

Satanic Emblem

I have said many times that Satan is a corrupter, not an innovator. He takes from the Word of God and corrupts it to serve his purposes. One such example is his instructions to Mohammed (through one of his demons) regarding the procedure for conquering a city of the enemy (any non-Muslim).

According to the Qur’an, when Mohammed had his sights on conquering a certain group, he sent out his representatives offering them peace if they would give up their religion and embrace Islam. He gave them three days to respond. If they refused, he and his men were free to attack them. Males will be killed. Women & children were divided up among Mohammed’s warriors. An invitation always preceded armed conflict:

Invite all to the way of our Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching. Argue with them in the ways that are best and most gracious (Sura 16:125).

Mohammed set the pattern which is still followed today. People of the Book (Jews and Christians) were given an additional option-dhimmitude. They must pay a “protection” tax and live as a second-class citizen.

 AS I SEE IT

In Deut. 20:10-14, 18 we find the likely verses Satan corrupted and offered to Mohammed:

When you approach a city to fight against it, you shall offer it terms of peace.  If it agrees to make peace with you and opens to you, then all the people who are found in it shall become your forced labor and shall serve you. However, if it does not make peace with you, but makes war against you, then you shall besiege it.  When the Lord your God gives it into your hand, you shall strike all the men in it with the edge of the sword.  Only the women and the children and the animals and all that is in the city, all its spoil, you shall take as booty for yourself; and you shall use the spoil of your enemies which the Lord your God has given you…so that they may not teach you to do according to all their detestable things which they have done for their gods, so that you would sin against the Lord your God (Deut. 20: 10-14, 18).

When reading these and other accounts of God’s instructions to the Children of Israel as they were preparing to enter the Promise Land, it’s important to remember the reasons God gave for the carnage He was proposing. Over and over again, He added

“Thus you shall purge the evil from among you.”

The nations already living in the land weren’t innocent folks who were about to be sacrificed so God could give their land to His people. They were wicked people who did detestable things including sacrificing their children to appease their gods. God had to purge the wickedness so His “children” would not be corrupted. It was all about purity and righteousness, not a ruthless lust for power.

Mohammed was taught to copy the process, but for very different reasons. Instead of eradicating the evil, he used his own brand of evil to remove all who would not bow to Allah. This is a perfect example of what Satan does. He seems to derive great pleasure in using a corrupted version of God’s Word against Him.

The day of reckoning will come, but for now we must recognize Satan’s ways just as we must recognize God’s ways. This will keep us from being lured into a trap from which we may not be able to escape.
