This issue reveals how our State Department has officially snubbed Israel, examines America’s favorite policy for determining which terrorist organizations to support, and gives a writing tip for interjecting comments or corrections into a quotation.

OUR ISRAELI CONNECTION

One Jerusalem reports

In this day and age, an organization’s web page tells a lot about its owner. The words and the pictures present the images and the message of the sponsoring organization. That is why the United States State Department’s web site for the American Consulate in Jerusalem is so disturbing. The site can be accurately described as a newsletter for all things Palestinian. It announces U.S. taxpayer grants to the Palestinian Authority. It provides tickets for Palestinian youth to summer camps and movie theaters. It announces a grant to preserve Palestinian Heritage.

What is not mentioned (and this may change when light is shed on this embarrassing situation) is that there is not a word about Jews or the State of Israel. Our friend Cliff May from the Foundation for the Defense Democracies notes that there is a link to an Arabic version of the site but none to a Hebrew version.

One Jerusalem has repeatedly warned that the Obama Administration is intent on taking Jerusalem away from the Jewish people. Unfortunately the evidence supporting this proposition continues to pile up.

IT’S NEWS TO ME
If you’re confused when you hear the names “Hamas” and “Fatah,” join the club. If they both seem like terrorist organizations to you, join the club. If you wonder why the United States would assist one of these organizations with funding (hundreds of millions of dollars) and training, join the club.

First, let’s briefly identify the players. Hamas is an “Islamic Resistance Movement” whose immediate goal is the creation of an Islamic state in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. Its ultimate goal (according to its 1988 charter) is to replace Israel and the Palestinian Territories with an Islamic Palestinian state.

Fatah is the PLO, which was changed to the PA (Palestinian Authority) after the Oslo Accords. Their goals are the same as those of Fatah, as are their tactics (bombings, murders, assassinations). The Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, one of the most violent organizations in existence today, was created by the PLO. The terrorists who desecrated the site believed to be the place where the Lord Jesus was born were PLO members.

Yet, for some reason Fatah has received the “stamp of approval” from both the Bush and Obama administrations, as well As many nations around the world. The Vatican was actually responsible for the release of those imprisoned for the Bethlehem desecration.

To explain the U.S. position, we simply need to take a historical stroll down memory lane. What we see is a belief that when we’re dealing with two thugs, we will support the one with the lesser degree of thuggery in hopes that when they win out, they will be more moderate in our dealings with them.
That really worked in Afghanistan, didn’t it, when we supported the Northern Alliance against the Taliban? Is the Northern Alliance’s routine practice of killing converts to Christianity moderate? When Russia was advancing into Afghanistan, we helped the resistance forces, thinking that Muslim fanatics would be better than Communist Russians. That worked out well, too, didn’t it?

If we don’t do a better job of identifying our real enemies, our future looks bleak.

A reminder
My ministry is to help educate and equip the Church regarding our obligations to Israel and to keep America from self-destructing. I do this primarily through my books and speaking engagements. If you have any contacts within a church that needs to hear what you read weekly in my newsletters and blogs, please direct them to my website. If you haven’t read any of my books, check them out and consider giving one as a gift.

ON THE LIGHTER SIDE

They keep talking about drafting a constitution for Iraq. Why don’t we just give them ours? It was written by a lot of really smart guys, it has worked for over 200 years, and we’re not using it anymore.
