Where will we live our lives- under the circumstances or under His wings?IT’S WORTH CONSIDERING
Normally, my post on Saturday consists of the latest news pertaining to Israel, Islam, and America. Today’s news is different. I’m out of the country for some R & R with my wife, sister, and brother-in-law, thoroughly enjoying a week with no contact with the outside world. Since I expect to be having an uplifting and relaxing time, I decided to post this article which I wrote a few weeks ago. We all need some good news to balance the steady stream of bad news the world is serving up to us.

Take a close look at the picture. It’s a double-barreled image of Psalm 91:4

He will cover you with His pinions (feathers), and under His wings you may seek refuge…

Occasionally, we’re blessed to see something in God’s wonderful creation that beautifully illustrates a biblical principle or truth. Sometimes a concept is too wonderful for us to fully comprehend, so God “draws us a picture.” Not only is the picture a perfect illustration, but it usually comes at the exact moment we need to see it. Psalm 91 is all about God’s protection, deliverance, security, and love for us. It was written to provide hope for those going through a very dark time.

AS I SEE IT
I know that everyone reading this brief article could use some encouragement in some area. I have never seen the degree of despair and hopelessness that I witness today. I have never seen this degree of pain and suffering. I have never seen so many lose so much. I have never seen so many people in desperate need of what only God can provide.

He is patiently waiting for us to fly into His arms, even if we have been deliberately flying away from Him. He wants to bring us under His wings, where we can feel safe and secure, where the Father’s warmth brings welcome relief from the cold, where His touch dispels the loneliness, where His shelter keeps us hidden from everything the world has been throwing at us.

We all have our personal reasons why we need to feel the joy of being under His wings. Are you feeling defeated by all the bad news, by the losses you have suffered, or by something you can’t quite put your finger on? Take another look at the picture. This is where God wants us, not just when things get bad, but all the time. He is offering this kind of security 24/7, no matter what. The choice is where we shall live our lives- under the circumstances or under His wings?

ON THE LIGHTER SIDE
“Aristotle was famous for knowing everything. He taught that the brain exists merely to cool the blood and is not involved in the process of thinking. This is true only of certain persons.”
